The state is giving special benefits to increase the use of electric two-wheelers.

To expand the power mobility in the state, the Andhra Pradesh government in association with central agencies has taken the special initiative to provide electric two-wheelers to government employees on an EMI basis. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is expected to enlist the help of Energy Efficiency Services Limited or EESL.

These electric two-wheelers will range from 40 to 100 km on a single charge. They will also come with a three-year free maintenance fee. That is, there is no cost for maintenance for the first three years. Then, the period for paying the price of an electric scooter/bike is from two years to five years.

State Energy Secretary Srikanth Nagulapalli said that New Energy and Renewable Energy Development Corporation AP Limited (NREDCAP) would be empowered to manage the EMIs scheme. Apart from government employees, cooperatives, public sector undertakings (public sector undertakings), and pensioners will also be covered under the new scheme.

To make the project successful, the state government will focus exclusively on rural areas, where village or ward secretariat staff and other low-paid employees may benefit from the project. Srikanth said that the Andhra Pradesh government would soon issue a government notice in this regard.
